500 days of Summer

Most days of the year are unremarkable. They begin, and they end, with no lasting memories made in between. Most days have no impact on the course of a life.
[Day ()]
Tom’s Co-worker : So do you have a boyfriend?
Summer : No. Who needs it? We’re young, might as well have fun while we can.
Tom : Wait. What happens if you fall in love?
Summer : Love. You don’t believe in that. Do you?
Tom : What. It’s love, not Santa Claus.

As There Is a Light That Never Goes Out by The Smiths is playing through Tom’s headphones
Summer : I love The Smiths.
Tom : [takes off headphones] Sorry?
Summer : I said I love The Smiths. You– you have a good taste in music.
Tom : You like The Smiths?
Summer : Yeah. “To die by your side is such a heavenly way to die.” I love ‘em.
[the elevator arrives and Summer gets off]
Tom : Holy.

Summer to Tom: You know, I dream sometimes about flying. It starts out like I’m running really, really fast. I’m like, superhuman. And the terrain starts to get really rocky and steep. And then I’m running so fast that my feet aren’t touching the ground. And I’m floating, and it’s like this amazing, amazing realness. I’m free. I’m safe. Then I realize… I’m completely alone. And then I wake up.
[Summer Finn]

“ Just because she’s likes the same bizarre crap you do doesn’t mean she’s your soul mate.
 [Rachel Hansen]

I hate Summer. I hate her crooked teeth. I hate her 1960s haircut. I hate her knobby knees. And I hate her cockroach-shaped splotch on her neck. I hate the way she smacks her lips before she talks. And I hate the way she sounds when she laughs.

[Day (488)]

Summer: Hey Tom! I thought I might see you here. I always loved this place ever since you brought me.
Tom      : So, I guess I should say, Congratulations.
Summer: Only if you mean it.
Tom      : Well and I guess
Summer : So are you okay?
Tom       : I will be.
Summer : I like your suit.
Tom       : Ah, Thanks.
Summer : You look sharp
Tom       : So do you.
Summer : Thanks.
Tom       : I quit the office.
Summer : You did? I didn’t know. That’s great
Tom       : You, uhm, you’re married?
Summer : Yeah. It’s crazy huh?
Tom       : You should’ve told me. When we’re at the wedding, when we’re dancing.
Summer : Yeah. You didn’t asked me.
Tom       : That he was in your life. So why did you danced with me?
Summer : Cause I wanted to.
Tom       : You just do what you want. Don’t you?You never want to be anyone’s girlfriend and now you’re somebody’s wife.
Summer : Yeah. It surprised me too.
Tom       : I don’t think I’ll ever understand that. I mean, it doesn’t make sense.
Summer : It just happened.
Tom       : Yeah, that’s what I’ll never understand. What just happened.
Summer : I just, I just woke up one day and I knew.
Tom       : Knew what?
Summer : What I was never sure of with you.
Tom       : You know it sucks, realizing that everything you believed in is complete bullshit.
Summer : What do you mean?
Tom       : You know. Destiny and soulmates, true love and all that childhood fairy tale, non sense. You’re right I should’ve listen to you.
Summer : No.
Tom       : Yeah. Why are you smiling? What? Why are you looking at me like that?
Summer : Well you know. i guess it’s cause i was sitting in a dely and reading dorian gray and a guy comes up to me and asked me about it and now he’s my husband.
Tom       : Yeah, and so?
Summer : So what if I’d gone in the movies? What if I had gone somewhere else for lunch? What if I’d gotten there ten minutes later? It was meant to be. I just kept thinking Tom was right.Yeah, I did.I did.It just was me that you weren’t right about. I should go.But I’m really happy that you’re doing well.
Tom       : Summer, I really do hope that you’re happy.
